Vitamins are obtained by our food intake daily. Different Vitamins have different roles in our body. Around 100 years ago the world saw a lot of vitamins deficiency diseases, all vitamins were discovered between<br>1913 \u2013 1948. \u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Our body does not synthesis vitamins on its own, so we need to include vitamin rich food in our diet. There are 13 vitamins as identified by scientific community:\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Vitamin A \u00a0<br>Vitamin B1 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B2 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B3 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B5 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B6 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B7 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B9 \u00a0<br>Vitamin B12 \u00a0<br>Vitamin C \u00a0<br>Vitamin D\u00a0<br>Vitamin E\u00a0<br>Vitamin K \u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Sources of Vitamins in our daily life:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Vitamin A: Sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, spinach, mangoes, fortified milk etc\u00a0<br>\u00a0<br>Vitamin B1: Peas, whole grain bread, meat, nuts etc.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B2: Wild rice, Mushrooms, Soybeans, Milk, Yogurt, Eggs, Broccoli, Spinach etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B3:&nbsp; Brown rice, Fortified cereals and breads, Nuts, seeds, Legumes, Bananas etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B5: Fortified cereals, Organ meats (liver, kidney) Chicken breast, Mushrooms, Avocados, Nuts, seeds, Dairy milk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B6: Fish, beef liver and other organ meats, potatoes and other starchy vegetables, and fruit (other than citrus).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B7: Eggs (cooked), Salmon, Avocados, Pork, Sweet potato, Nuts, seeds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B9: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus and peas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin B12: Animal meat, dairy products, eggs. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><em>Fun fact: Vitamin B12 forms when we eat fermented foods with probiotic, e.g.: Dosa and curds.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<br>Vitamin D: Fortified milk and cereals, fatty fish (one form of vitamin D is synthesized in skin cells when they are exposed to a certain wavelength of ultraviolet light present in sunlight) &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Vitamin E: vegetables oils, leafy green vegetables, whole grains, nuts etc&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Vitamin K: Cabbage, eggs, milk, spinach, broccoli etc&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governments have mandated the addition of some vitamins to staple foods such as flour or milk, referred to as food fortification, to prevent deficiencies among the wider population.
